Educational Assessment in Science Education

REVISED DATES AND FORMAT! This course is intended to provide an opportunity for teachers to explore the current practice and use of assessment and assessment data to inform instructional decisions. Each teacher will create an assessment blueprint to accompany a unit of study. Throughout the class time and between class sessions, teachers will be asked to design and implement some of the assessments included in their blueprint. The majority of our time will be on formative and summative classroom level assessments, purposes, designs, and implications for teaching. Throughout the course we will investigate purpose, components of universal design, bias and cognitive complexity. We will also investigate the role of assessment and our current grading and reporting practices. Now offered as a blended course featuring 3 days of face-to-face meetings with online work via Moodle in between. 3 Credits.
