Where are the courses offered?
The summer institutes and follow up sessions are offered at Institutions of Higher Education including Lyndon State Colleges and Norwich University. PLCs will be offered on-site at a local district location.
Who Should Apply?
Teachers who are interested in increasing their scientific content and science pedagogical content knowledge, improving their own practice, helping students engage and learn in science , and who are enthusiastic about having an influence on science curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment in their school and district should apply.
Who is eligible to attend?
For the Science Academy: All licensed teachers in grades K-8 are eligible to apply. High School teachers who have attended report the courses are useful to their teaching situations as well. Priority will be given to teams of teachers (2-4 teachers).
For the Science and Engineering Institute: Teachers who teach grades 1-6. Priority will be given to teams of teachers (2-4 teachers).

Can federal money (Title IIA or Title V) be used to support participant's tuition to VSI?
Yes. Contact the person in your district who controls the consolidated Federal program grants - usually the superintendent or curriculum coordinator.
Does VSI provide monetary support or stipends?
Yes. Stipends are available for both the Science Academy and the Science and Engineering Institute. These stipends are to support the work of the programs outside the school day and meeting times.
How do I apply?
Go to the Applying page and download the application. Tier II programs are arranged through a curriculum specialist at the district level or through an ESA director at the regional level. Interested teachers should contact their local support person or the VSI staff. A minimum of 8-10 teachers is needed for the VSI Tier II program to run.
