Science Academy Application Guidelines/Criteria
We encourage team members to collaboratively develop a team application that addresses the following application guidelines and criteria for selection.
- Priority will be given to school or district teams of teachers who have an interest in and commitment to moving science forward in their classrooms as well as the school/district. Teams should consist of a minimum of 2 teachers, grades K-8.
- Commitment to the full Science and Engineering Academy program (summer institute, follow up days, PLC meetings, and completion of 1 NSTA Sci Pack), as well as, participation in all aspects of the evaluation of the VSI program including, but not limited to: student pre/post tests, surveys, interviews, and classroom observations.
- Strong Administrator support demonstrated by: providing release time for 3 follow up program dates, payment of program costs, on going communication/meetings with VSI staff, and participation in all aspects of the evaluation of the VSI program including, but not limited to: student pre/post tests, surveys, and classroom observations.
